“Um, Seraphina ?”
The
Angel’s eyes went up sharply when she heard the human use her name.
Isobel was slowly approaching with a white cupcake topped with a berry.
“How do you know my name ?”, The Angel demanded.
With
her other hand Isobel dropped a bundle on the table. It made a loud
noise and opened to reveal Seraphina’s gold blades engraved with her
name. They had been left behind during our hasty exit
“Peace offering”, Isobel explained, “I’ll give you this cupcake and your scary knives if you promise not to kill me.”
The Angel dropped her eyes back to the computer screen as if the conversation and cupcake wasn’t worth her precious time.
I followed Isobel back up to the counter, quietly contemplating what to say next.
It's an ANGEL food cake ! I also wanted Paris to eat a Devil's Food Cake Cupcake in the same scene to hint that Paris/Seraphina was endgame.
Unrelated, I just realized Det. Rainer has a cameo in Lux Aeterna ???

I've been going in chapter-by-chapter and intensely re-editing Lux Aeterna. I wrote and posted this entire serial in about 40 days..and it shows.The whole thing is a hot mess. It has really good plot bones, a solid structure, setting and world-building that always endeared it to me, but it has big development issues.

The dialogue and characterization is extremely toxic and grim. The feud between the Angels and Demons is heavily gendered sliding towards misogynistic because we only get Paris' side and he verbally harasses the Angels because that's what he's been taught his whole life. Now I think one of the reasons I pushed his hatred was because Hmjeu dying set Paris "free" of that toxic thinking but IDK if that holds up. If I were to re-do this Paris would learn the gospel of feminism and bring it back to his brethren...but like metaphorically
I also have a much better feel for Sera. I fumbled big time on her being Genderfluid I did not do enough research.The female Angels never get a say in Lux Aeterna and the gender essentialism of it all is not compelling at all. I don't think I truly figured out the LA "verse" until I fully understood Sera's character in Bellum.
Bellum I, II and III follows Sera's journey from antagonist to love interest to hero as witnessed by Paris. I always saw Bellum as her story (as shown in the various images I've made) and I think I need to think of LA as her story too because she's way more than the third wheel sidekick I wanted her to be
Whenever I re-read LA-verse I always re-read Bellum which fixes most of LA problems. I think that's why I didn't see the issues with LA for so long.
This whole comment thread really stuck with me.
This serial became something different and I wish this world and these characters hadn't been introduced like this, I don't know how anyone made it through the original story but I'm glad we've all stuck around as I've learned and evolved them. I can't get over how much I want to tear down Lux Aeterna and rewrite it. In conclusion....my bad.

I plotted out Rogue and all chapters are laid out. It is somehow only 10 Chapters ??? Also Chapter 9 is blank so...progress ?
Leon, Sera and Paris landed in Mexico but thier plans to find Helios take a turn when they are kidnapped.
