Leaning In

Leaning In

Every now and then in my AN or in comments I'll sort of point out how something in this is unintentionally feminist or Erik will joke about my "kill all the men" feminist philosophy. As I wrap up QC I realize that the last part has some very feminist  themes in it and I'm just going to lean into it. This comes up more in the next few chapters.

Sera is Evil

Hmm, so this one comment got to me because not only is it true. . . but it's been true for the entire Lux Aeterna line of stories.  Now yes, doing bad things to children makes it more visible, but Sera has always been written as . . . well Evil. She was written as a ruthless, vindictive, emotionless character who gets feelings for the nice guy pacifist she can't have.

Like in Lux Aeterna

- Kills two demons when she was a young girl while trying to kill Paris.
- Chases Isobel and tries to kill her because she knows the secret
- Kills Caden Kellers

Then in Bellum I & II (which are still cannon in QC) after spending time with Helio she

- Presumably shoots a lot of people while training with SGI
- Kills an SGI who follows Her and Paris to a secret meeting
- Seduces another woman's boyfriend
- It's revealed that her mother had a demon-lover and that Sera killed him because. . . reasons.
- Also she admits to pushing her first husband into a fireplace after he hit her

I don't think I need to make a list for New Aeterna. . .

That's not to say she's all evil, part of the reason I wrote Ariel is because I wanted to show how loving and loyal Seraphina was.

Sera is Skpetical

One thing that I guess struck me, or I wanted to get across (and I think this is interesting  considering Liberation went this way too) is the belief in mental illness. Because Sera is able to compartmentalize and tamp down her own trauma she isn't sure she believes in Depression or that a pill can fix it.

So, NaNo or Nah ?

I've hinted about doing the second part of Pretty Little Things as a Nano, Just to see what I could come up with and I'm still debating.

Chapter 14

Recap

After Paris' failed suicide attempt Sera spends the weekened with Leon. Afterward Seraphina is recharged and ready to talk to Paris'. When she gets home Leon comes up with the idea of using the CCTVs to track Solstice LeCroix's movements. They follow her to Ravi, a young anti-Helion terrorist. apartment where Solstice meets up with Anne, former leader of the Angels, now leader of the Unification party.

After a tense conversation with Helios; Sera and Leon kickback and stop for drinks. When they make it back to the city, Sera has a short sit down with Paris and tells him to stand up and fight back. Even though Leon knows that if anyone can stand up and fight back, it's not Paris. It's her.

Yes, this is another shortie transition chapter.

+1+ Words - Skylar Gray (yes I've been stealing from SHV)
+2+ Lean On - Major Lazer
+3+ You Should Know Where I'm Coming - Banks ( I stole twice)
