17B & Q&A
Chapter 13's post has a Q&A so it might be fun to check that out first in retrospect
I should point out for American Fairytale (I know I promised I wouldn't bring it up) I don't plot the way I say I do in the Q&A. I am doing a SH Pantser routine and it a nice change. All of Litany Lanes + Companions were done in my strict outline form.
Also I take a break from S&A for 3 months after this
Mini Blog
In the blogpost I talk about name origins and I actually use some of the same conventions for characters names in American Fairytale (I know I did it again.)
Anywho while I'm on the subject here are name origins for LL
Clara was named after the song. Her name was Clare and then Clair but Clair sounds like kind of bitchy-name. Maybe I was watching the Duggars but I decided everyone in Clara's family would have Cl names. (On that note I just realized Derek is Claudia's husband and the drug dealer in this story so. . . yeah) Colin (Clarice's Hubby) is named after a friend.
Fierro was originally supposed to be a super enigma from a much older time so I looked up popular 19th century names and choose none of them. I liked the idea of him having a feminine name so I went with Addison and Fierro because he could be Irish or Italian.
Emile was a left over name from looking up French names for Severine.
Lucie was named after I Love Lucy cause she was supposed to be a throwaway character and is only mentioned in Mr. F's memories of the 1950's so... yeah. . Victor sounded like a generic King name so I went with it. Ms. Ginger is named after my Mom (pour one out).
Rosalie's name is because in Twilight, Rosalie is called Rose and I wanted Rose's name to be an inside joke on Clara's part (because you know of the Glasshouse) . Even though it couldn't happen, if she had sisters their names would be Violet, Lily, Lavender and Azalea.
For the heck of it for American Fairytale
Cillian O'Conner is a mix of my favorite Irish names. I know Cillian Murphy is well known but I like how unique it is.
You : I don't kow LiLe, I mean if Alex Meraz is your picspiration he doesn't look very Irish . . .
LiLe : I know . . .

P.S - I've changed one aspect about Cillian being in Juvie, so theorize
No seriously don't even bring up American Fairytale. I will have an update as soon as I finish S&A.
Chapter 13 ! ALSO THERE IS A JASON WITH A Y IN THIS CHAPTER ? WHAT ? Also relative of one of SH characrters show up.
I'm also inclined to say most of this entire chapter could have been thrown out. HOW HOW HOW ?

ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't know what came first, Cillian didn't have a look but then I had this idea for how he sounded. And Alex looks how I imagine he sounds and he's very good looking, but I didn't want to change the name so Cillian O'Conner is half Native American.

ReplyDeleteActually Dr. A is a pretty developed character. On one hand he is a womanizing jerk...but on the other hand he cares for Sofia...wait didn't he try and date her ?
DeleteYeah, he actually dated Angeline but when she moved away he settled for Sofia. So. . . yeah.

ReplyDeleteThe park was filled with playing children their watchful nannies and stay at home moms, all completely oblivious to us.
“Marcella.”, she said
“What”
“It’s the name we choose.”, Karina turned towards the group of kids and shouted, “Marcella ! Marcie !”
A few women looked in her direction and then back at the playing kids.
“What are you doing ?”
“Marcie, be careful !”, she shouts to no one.
“Karina ?Are you okay ?”
“I’m practicing, you should try it”
“I’m not keeping it”, there I said it.
“Fine, then practice for the future. You can use one of my back-up names. Try ‘Jamie’.”
“No”
“Sof.”
“Fine.”, I thought about it and very quietly called, “Jamie”
Just then a little boy on the swing turns around in confusion and runs towards his mother.
“Ohmygod!”, squealed Karina.
“Let’s get out of here”, I felt a flush of embarrassment
This scene is so manic pixie dream mom, I’m giving you all kinds of hell for it
