It's Linda from the trenches of writing her new story. I decided to take a break and let a little light shine on my writing process, which I'm getting a feel for because my office sponsered a creative writing workshop as a way to bond and I learned alot.
For Lost Angels it was easy I picked out parts from my life and assigned them titles and ideas
1. Getting Sick
2. Getting Hurt
Now it was supposed to follow on about my experince with drugs, cancer and men finishing with a romance in what was suppposed to be called Angel in White. I was going to introduce to Tomas in Miss. Angel and get back to him 2 books later but I liked him.
I fiddled with the idea of bringing him back in Dear, Angel with Sofia dealing with cancer and Angeline being over bearing (she'd still be living in her apartment) Tomas would attempt to rob her but (and feel free to laugh) would think she was so beautiful that he couldn't and would befriend her and seduce her with drugs and sex, hince why the original cover of Dear Angel looks the way it does.
But, I digressed and decided on using Sofia's sympathy and give Tomas a reason why he needed to get married.
Spirits however was different because I knew I wanted it to be about (as Shawna says) two strangers trying to find thier way around love, and I was tempted to make them parents, which is why Willa is mentioned in the other version I posted. When I started writing I hadn't planned for Tomas to run away but I had a nagging feeling that he would contract HIV. I'd concieved the idea of Terry and I was going to make thier relationship a bit more intimate than it was but I decided to foucs more on Sofia's afflictions.
It feels like such a blur from the first sentence to the last but somehow it landed my here. Now as I am writing Spirits & Angels I like to comment on how much my story relies on time and follow this little timeline (I changed it since I last posted it)
Sofia Madeline Madigan Alexander b. September 9th 1987
Tomas Jonas Alexander b. May 11th 1985
Nov 24th 2004 Tomas is Diagnosed with Leukemia/ Dark Angel
June 12th 2006 – Tomas and Sofia meet for the first Time
June 28th 2006 – They get married the first time
For 7 months
December 18th Sofia and Tomas get married again
January 5th – Tomas is convicted for a 6 month sentence
6 months past
June 20th 2007 – Tomas and Sofia move into together
August 6th 2007 –
November 12th 2007 – End of Spirits
This helps me place things and I'll even spill a little bit more about S&A. I'm finding there is going to be alot more from Tomas and about Tomas's past but I can say that there won't be that much about his father.
Well, I'm going to jump back into this and try for 10,000 words before I post an update.
This was also the original photo I was going to use for the last part of Spirits but I didn't like it.
If those people at Cobalt ever need a side job, they could make some good money photoshopping !

Is their a reason you picked those exact dates ? Which marriage do they consider official. I just want to know if they are married almost a year or almost 2 years.

@ Jane - No, I work in a hospital and they like the entire department to do things together so we work better as a team.

@ Holli - Well, we have this open space for events or fundraisers and they have chairs and computers and we do excersises and character development. We help each other form ideas.
