I was a little nervous about letting go of my work so qucikly but I think I'm okay now. I first want to say ( because this is going to come up again) that I am not trying to include anyone from my life in the story but it's hard not to take some inspiration, I promise it means little to nothing.
Okay, so I was very apprehinsive about the introduction, I wanted it to be a little funny and after I wrote it I couldn't figure else how else to change it.
I am not a big cat person but for some reason I wanted to give Sofia a pet. I wanted to make Charleston a little bit like a character but he is very insightful. His original name was Sunny but I likes Charleston better and his little backstory is that when Tomas and Sofia moved to New York they found him on the street with a wounded paw and Sofia wanted to keep him.
Speaking of New York, I recently spent a good bit of time in New York this summer. I went three times with my family and with a friend to see a Red Sox game.
To shed some light Tomas and Sofia live in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn at the dividing line of the Projects and Artistville. Because the area hasn't been gentrified yet it's affordable and based ever so lightly on Mckibbins Lofts. I know them renting Studio space is a bit out there but they get all their furniture and clothes from thrift stores and have taken out massive loans.
Now I think it's time to pick up on chapter 2 !
Here are some songs to consider
I. Waiting For My Real Life To Begin
II. In The Sun By Joseph Author, this one of my favorite songs so I may use it again.
I finally made a playlist, what I'm doing is taking my "master list" and transferring them in the order I like.
Here we go

Anybody who didn't cry when Winter came on in Scrubs doesn't have a heart. This song always makes me emotional so, reading it with this made me really feel the characters. I loved this, I really wish I had a Tomas
ReplyDeleteI love Sofia’s mom’s name—I love Sofia’s last name. They are so pretty
ReplyDeleteI think it’s terrible Sofia thinks her mother wanted to die. Most people who commit suicide don’t know that they don’t.
ReplyDeleteWow, I guessed Tomas’s funeral right ! That is so cool !
ReplyDeleteWill we be seeing more Servine and Sofia ? I never like Servine but maybe she is one of those people who is better around their friends
ReplyDeleteWhat did Sofia do that week between Christmas and New Years ?
ReplyDeleteWhy is she a vegetarian ?
ReplyDeleteYou say not much is based on your real life. so there is no hope Sofia is a mentally ill writer and this whole thing is her fantasy ?
ReplyDeleteIf Tomas calls Sofia pretty more than Bella calls Edward dazzling.
ReplyDeleteOh, sure the gay guy is named Kasey, lol
ReplyDeleteYou really know New York ! Loved this !
ReplyDeleteYou went to New York and saw the Sox. relationship OVER ! jk, this was so beautiful, I teared up a bit at Emma's eulogy. I can't imagine having one of those
ReplyDeleteThey are open on New Years Day ? They’d make some real money on New Year’s Eve when everybody is drunk
ReplyDeleteI love your portrayl of AIDS, my good friend had HIV and I love to see it here
ReplyDeleteI love Tomas. I love Emma. but I *hate* Sofia. I hated her in Lost Angels, she is just too whiny. I almost never read this because of her.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised at the above. I love this, I love Sofia I think she is every girl. I relate to her and love her style.
ReplyDeleteOn the topic of Sofia I do think she is a great character and is very developed. I do think she is playing the idealized woman. She cooks, she cleans and she dresses nicely. Not only does she do these things she does to the extreme, cleaning the whole apartment in the middle of the night, 6inch heels to a funeral . . . She is probably overcompensating so Tomas will either not leave her or because she won't sleep with him. But, I feel like that is stage 1 for her as a character and she can only evolve.
ReplyDeleteOn that note I like all the characters and all their levels.
If I were Tomas and Sofia I would take Angeline’s money !
ReplyDeleteI need Tomas so I can have tattoo on demand services. I love them as a couple I really do. Screw the haters
ReplyDeleteEverytime a person in the story says spirits I get chills. I have no clue why
ReplyDeleteI love that this is fiction but, I’m pretty sure you can’t just paint over a coffin. I wonder is the painting more acrylics or watercolors. I imagine watercolors.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me of does the font get smaller ?
ReplyDeleteOther than that this was my fave !
I think Tomas would be better without Sofia too. Team Emma or Team Servine.
ReplyDeleteIt would be really sweet if in some supernatural twist, if Tomas works on the casket a bit each day but wont die until the casket is done but, when he finishes it, it’s the day sofia dies.
ReplyDeleteTo the above ^^ or they get divorced. Or he kills her and puts her annoying ass in the casket
ReplyDeleteHow did they get her from the church to her room, if she fainted. Did they carry a sleeping body ?
ReplyDeleteIDK, I guess you can get away with that in Brooklyn
I literally cried, again!
ReplyDeleteI noticed Sofia doesn’t curse anymore. I love Sofia, I think we’d be great friends , I can relate to her.
What is with all this Sofia hate ? Tomas is the real jerk to me, he is like in his 20’s which is when women usually reach their sexual peek not men, so he needs to get his hormones in check.
ReplyDeleteTOmas is killing Sofia , people are too traped into how attracted they are to him (which I don't get) that they are hating her
To the above, Tomas is from that vicious cycle, so it is reasonable. He doesn’t know what a good relationship is. That is why he has that flashback. This piece is so wonderful Linda, it speaks on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteThis is totally inappropriate but, when he said angel wings all I though of was the chicken wings from the CBS show How I met your mother.
ReplyDeleteI think Sofia just need professional help like thearpy to deal with her past, her marriage and her future. And I mean A LOT
ReplyDeletePastor ? Why no priest. I thought he was catholic
ReplyDeleteIt’s funny I don’t think the website and blog represents the gritty NY tone that is S&A. But, in a way it still does at it's sole. I liked this chapter.
ReplyDeleteShe makes rules ?
ReplyDeleteIt’s interesting I imagine the first few lines of In the Sun as Tomas’s first experiences in heaven.
Speaking of which, we should go see Lovely Bones when it comes out.
You may already know this but, you can go to edit play list and it lets you move around the songs with a click and drag.
ReplyDeleteI can't find anything wrong with this, I am addicted to this story, it is beautiful and I can't wait to see what happens next.
I need to get on the comment wagon earlier though.
