Subtext Becomes Text

Me : I didn't put any D/s subtext into Sera and Paris' relationship until I wrote  Queen and Country.

Bellum II Chapter 8:

[Seraphina] puts the framed picture down and peers out the window.

"You didn't need the distraction."  She says.

"Distraction from what ?", I challenge, "From spending time with you ?  Are you jealous of Isobel?"

"She'd be a distraction from getting rid of Helios. You'd be too cautious trying to protect her--"

"Bullshit, and you know it. Just admit you're afraid of losing me to her. No one  from your past or future will ever worship you like I will. I want to please you Sera. I want to make you happy. If I ever get down on one knee and ask you to marry me I'd be begging you to say yes.You don't want Helios to control you. . . you want to be the one in control. I'll give you that"

 

Bellum Chapter 10

"We all had traumatic childhoods She's batshit insane, Paris. I mean she killed someone in a fucking restaurant. If I didn't think you had feelings for Isobel I would tell you to make it work with the murderous dominatrix Angel and her magic vagina.  You and Isobel were sickeningly sweet together, Isobel made you happy. She was good for you. Call Isobel." Ashe says.

I stop mid-sip and quirk my head towards Ashe.

" . . . Did you just call my girlfriend a dominatrix", I start lowering my voice.

"She wears leather and makes men her bitch, I'm calling it like I hear it."
