Le Break
So...I gave myself a goal of posting by Feb 16th and that somehow turned into April 16th. Then it turned into late June. July 😬. I got really into the weeds and ended up finishing Cold-- So I'm back to post the last half.
There is just some clean-up and continuity checks I need to work on. Hopefully I can set a steady posting pace for the summer ---hopefully.
What Else
When SHV did her T-DOSH I dove back into QC and Veritas. It made me miss writing non-contemporary stories. Nothing on the (realistic) 'docket' really has that slant. The next thing I have planned is the Cold novellas.
AYC 15
A chapter 14 recap is sort of built right into the first chapter. But just a general quick recap.
Paris and Seraphina Prince are starting a new life in Harrison County. They've lived in Boston, D.C and New York as Paris pursued his academic career. Along the way they both picked up an interest in BDSM and Sera became a sex worker and escort to help ends meet. After years in the industry Paris uses her clients to help launch--New Aeterna, a lucrative BDSM business. In April of 2017 they leave it all behind so Paris can start his political career and climb to the White House.
Paris is having a rough start as the 5th district supervisor and when he is saddled with an audit he illegally outsources it to an automated system. This leads him to discovering an embezzlement scheme started by Chairman Cortland Day's father. A scheme has been going on for decades and involves the entire board which includes longtime family friends of Day's father, Bruno and Lee. Along with Dr. Hollins--a former dentist and son of the man who helped Day's father start the scheme
When Paris confronts Cortland about the matter --Cortland offers Paris a cut. The confrontation leads to a fight and public shouting match between Day's wife and Seraphina. Paris leave disgraced. He knows he can't win so he agrees to resign and leave town. Frustrated Sera heads to a Manhattan gig with plans to stay in the city until Paris figures out his next step
Day instructs him to leave his resignation letter and evidence in Old Town Hall. Moments after he arrives someone locks him in his office and sets the building on fire. Paris barley escapes. He runs to Emile's (This is when I realized Emile would be sticking around) and hides the evidence he was able to save.
Just as Paris starts to calm down he gets a call from Seraphina. She is not in Manhattan but stranded at a diner a few miles outside of town. Paris goes to help only to discover that Seraphina has run Skylar Day off the road.
Against better judgement-- he helps her cover it up. Paris knows that fire wasn't an accident. Someone tried to kill him and frame him for arson. He plans to figure out who. He also needs to figure out why Sera ran Sky off the road.
