Our Vampires Are Different

I think a commenter asked why Sera was reading vampires books and --apart from me having her be a reader in the background of Lux Aeterna and Bellum--the other reason was a *wink* to Lux Aternrna which featured daemons...which were a type of vampire. That serial has SUCH good bones but I need to re-write 40% of it. I feel like I was setting up for a series of low stakes pulpy paranormal stories...but then did the complete opposite.

Chapter 3

Chapter three kicks off what I call the yellow umbrella chapters where we see some of Paris' backstory. These are my HIMYM-esque chapters where Paris goes back and he explains how we got here. IDK...this is just how the story came to me.

Chapter 4

Paris has uncovered an embezzlement scheme in Harrison County that has seemingly been passed down from father to son. Paris reflects on his own fatherless childhood and in the spirit of Hmjeu Paris plans to do what is right. He is going to confront the Board of Supervisor's Chairman Cortland Day. If Day doesn't take accountability Paris plans to anonymously leak the VacationSavers dossier to the press and leave town before the...slightly unethical way he discovered the scam comes to light.

We also might be in for a flashback to learn that Paris is no stranger to feeling out of place.
