The above is an SHV quote from a recent post that I clipped and put in my secret inspiration Google doc because it really solidified everything I wanted to do with Seraphina as a character in both universes. That after everything she's been through Sera gets to be a bad person. The idea of a strong, fierce non-traditional anti-her was what got the ball rolling on my Angels/Demons stories. I'm not sure how Sera kept taking a back seat ? Maybe it was because I couldn't figure out her POV.
I hope in the future if I ever get around to Mercy I can rectify this. I don't see Seraphina's POV being in it but she is in charge of the events in the narrative and has a lot of control over the characters.
When I started Rogue--it was going to be a short story with one arc like New Aeterna. I told myself to cut the fat. It would be
- Leon and Sera coming back from a failed mission to find Helios
- Adonis giving them a clue to find Helios
- Sera and Leon go to Mexico
- Sera and Leon getting captured
- Leon struggling with his Stockholm syndrome
- Sera has to confront Titus.
- They escape and Sera kills Helios.
In my original plan Sera kills Titus during their escape and it feels so good she decides to...kill everyone else. All of Troy's lines were originally Titus. Then I wanted to give Aria the voice she never had in the other serials and then I wanted to give Adam closure.
I have notes in a Google Doc that I keep for blogging and I may have mentioned these things already but here we go.
In a post SHV said this in response to Haley in Sweet Prince. when I wrote this Bright Lines didn't exist. I had put Haley behind me and then he just kind of showed up in this chapter and he had tattoos for some reason. At the time I didn't really know how he got them or how long he'd had them or how long he'd been with the cartel. I kept that part in because I wanted to show that when people see him they still think he is more innocent than he actually is.
This is very similar to something that shows up in the story Arrow and in QC. When I wrote Helios into QC he sort of showed up as cameo, but I realized by having him live as a secret prisoner justice was never served.I always knew Sera would get her revenge on Helios. So I was thinking about this while writing Arrow and Little Rebellions which is why this scene shows up in Arrow
“... Her blue eyes roam over me quickly. Not a hint of recognition crossed the lightened scars on her face. Well, shit.”
I was like...she these are her battle scars for killing Helios. I just didn’t know how.
Finally I clipped these comments from SHV's 2017 Comment section. It took me 3 years to finish this for some reason. I have no idea why.
Moving On
While I do some reorganizing I do have Chapter 1 of Aren't You Cold to share before taking a tiny break.
After the Nightfall Academy I decided to write a Lux Aeterna High School story that took me forever to find because of how I linked it. In this eighteen year old Paris is this delusional unreliable narrator. He is this harmless confident young man but if you strip away at what he is saying you realize he is a high-strung nervous wreck. SHV check out your comment. Was this Years ?
For the ending I had this silly idea to go full monty with the unreliable narrator and have Paris explaining what he's done after high school and while the words he is saying sound bad, he is actually misrepresenting everything. In retrospect it's kind of annoying how I wrote it.
Then fast foward to SHV writing Harrison High. I LOVED IT. I loved how she took her cyberpunk characers and stuck them in suburbia. Years has been like a dream come true. I love domestic stories and I realized that my Human!Paris and Human!Sera would be interesting additions to this world cause I'm a whiny narcissist.
It started as a fun little 3K story but then I was like...what if I explored their backstory more...then I was like isn't suburbia the best setting for darkness, intrigue and...murder ? Can I write grip-lit ?
So...here we are. This only took me 7 months to plot out. I have an completed outline of about 20 chapters and I've written like 11 of them. WHO AM I ? I also wrote in order this time.
