Goodwill !
Chapter 3 features one of the very first scenes I wrote for this serial. It's the section where Sofia goes about her morning routine. S&A's epilogue (at the time) took place after Tomas and Sofia moved to Queens and it first introduces Tomas in a wheelchair. I used that epilogue to write this section and it kind of stuck around. I built the story around what happened before that moment in the epilogue and after that moment in the epilogue
So, in the scene where Martina shows up and Sofia has thing line.
. I’d gotten the books from the Goodwill. They were colorful classics and I’d read it was important for kids to grow up around books.
This is why the story was originally called Goodwill, the name stuck around for reasons I later found relevant in the story, but this was one of my early scraps.
Picspiration
I didn't have much picspiration for this serial, but there were a few things lurking on my Pinterest pages that reminded me of the characters. Like I think this looks like a pretty good Sofia
I guess I always did have Ben Barnes as an inspiration for Tomas and this picture is pretty close
I've had this image on my desktop for years, it's the inspiration for Sofia and Tomas' aprment
Also I don't know what's happening in this picture but this person is clearly speaking to parts of my imagination?
Demi-Gods ? College Students ? Ageless Parents ? These are all things in my wheelhouse
Goodwill Chapter 3 part II
Sofia and Tomas settle into their new routine only to have it upended when a lawyer from North Carolina shows up with an opportunity for Sofia to confront her past.
