What I've Been Doing

+++

I'm still here . . .question mark

Storytime

I have been poking and prodding at The Goodwill of Sofia Madigan and New Aeterna III, just as I have been doing for a long time.

Then something got away from me.

I realized that there was a sequel to Goodwill that I couldn't stop poking at. It started off as a novella, but then I tried to fill in details and have ended up with this idea-bunny that is a prequel to the original sequel. Does that make sense  ? No ? Good.

But it layman's terms I tried to write a story that takes place 16 years after Goodwill but realized the real story took place 9 years after Goodwill. I call it an idea-bunny instead of a plot bunny because I have no plot. I'm tentatively calling this project Red Booth. Of course I HAVE to finish Goodwill first.

The biggest obstacle in my way with Goodwill is I have literally saved 4-8 different versions of the story. I can never sort through them, so for 2019 I'm going to build it from scarps in Google Docs, this method is how I did some of Litany Lane's sequels. These are just handful of the versions of Goodwill I had.

Yes, Document1yy is a version of Goodwill. Sigh. And these are just the last times they were saved

Also, in my moments of poking at things I shouldn't be poking at, I have become obsessed with writing a Litany Lane novella from Emile's POV that is like. about intimacy, longing and relationships. I don't know if I can pull it off and it feels a lot like ho-yay, but I'm sure you all are tired of me writing about Litany Lane.

More Ranting and Raving

In lieu of writing more about Sofia, Tomas, Seraphina, Leon, Paris and maybe JUST MAYBE Clara, Emile, Rose and Fierro I've been doing a lot of reviewing. And considering the nature of the processes there is alot to cringe at.

I think S&A and everything that followed is the most transformed. Originally it was more of a way of me reclaiming my own past and I feel like Goodwill is going to do that more. I know I lost my way specifically in S&A.  For everything that is cringe-worthy and teh crazy-banana-pants plotting, I really like how I wrote Tomas and the hardest thing about Goodwill is capturing that.

As for Litany Lane I wish I could erase your minds and reboot the entire thing. One of the things while working on Pretty Little Things is that the stakes can be small. The main conflict in Litany Lane is about Specters and the fate of this whole world I  knew the characters would be leaving.

(Muse : Oh, yeah. You knew they were leaving the whole time)

As for the sequels that followed I regret how complicated I made everything. I was really into my timelines and reveals. As a matter of fact Desert Sand Iris (You know the one with the worst title) is my favorite because of how simple it is...I mean except for the ending which I'll admit was kind of odd. And of course I've discussed this before but I wish I would have (and probably still could) made Fierro's asexuality text.

Now, this entire post exist to say this.

Anything I've ever done for the Lux Aeterna series has 100% been for me. While at times you can see the frame I'm hanging the plot on I find the sarcasm and dark comedy a nice change of pace. Reading about Sera and Paris's relationship in Bellum is odd because they are so measured and restrained than they are in the AU.

First and Only

However to get my motor running I did finish a novella that goes along with Sunday Nights In Savannah about nineteen-year old Rosalie Fierro and --

MUSE : SHE TOTALLY STOLE STUFF FROM SHV

I just touch on a lot of similar themes . . ..
