Pssst, VEGAS
As you can imagine I re-read Tell Me Santa to write my ensemble novella. I played it very straight with Vegas, but I love how Tell Me Santa has all these little hidden Easter eggs in it and that amazing pay off !
I almost cried when the Ivy Brothers showed up.
I also went back to look at American Fairytale after I posted Vegas and I just have no idea how I put those words together. I have memories of outlining it and I do have some critques. The plotting is a little dense and I'm trying way to hard to cover up big reveals. I also noticed that giving all the female characters "T" names made it very hard to keep track of who was who
With that said
Cillian and Leon are like soul-characters. I see so many lines straight out of QC in Nightmare and it's so freaky cause I haven't looked back at Nightmare in years !
Nightmare
“You should come with me”, April finally says.
“What ?”
“When I go to Ireland. When I’m queen you can be my bodyguard. Run away from all of this.”

Nightmare
I learned that if I just stared down at someone, stayed quiet, and pretended like I was about to fuck them up. . . they’d back down. They always backed down sooner or later.

He wanted the senator to squirm; cause if there were three things Paris had learned from his wife it was resilience, dirty sex and the power of unnerving silence.

“No”, I said
“You don’t say much do you, big guy”, she leans on one hand and watches me.
“No”, I said.
Queen & Country
“Sure.” I said honestly. Don’t know why she asked. They were my girls, happy ones. I liked watching that, I still had to figure out how to be a part of that without bringing the shitstorm that was New Aeterna's secrets.
“I think this is the most words you’ve
ever said to me in two years, Leon.”
“That so?”
I don't know what I'm going to do for Christmas. . . but I do have a bit of another treat. I sort of started thinking about what would happen next in Vegas, and I discovered something interesting about Tomas and Sofia relationship. . . that I'm going to start exploring.
So
I'm just going to leave that there.
Recap
It's the first annual Royal Court in New Aeterna, the first with the country's brand new King and Queen. After surviving a traumatic assassination Paris isn't still all together and after a failed suicide attempt, he learns that Seraphina and Leon were behind the attack. Not that they will tell him why
Because the reason they did it was because the Unificaiton Party, an Anti-New Aeterna organization, blackmailed Sera and Leon with all the darkness from their past.
Speaking of darkness from the past, it turns out the new leader of the Unification Party is none other than Anne Lynne, former leader of the Angels. She's out for vengeance but she's not the only one . . . so is Solstice LeCroix a DOJ agent who has come to new Aeterna to find out what really happened to Bart Giuliani. The man Sera and Leon killed to keep their secrets.
Now Solstice and Anne are planning something with former Anti-Helion Terrorist, Ravi. Sera and Leon want to look into it, but have to take the day off for the New Aeterna Liberation Day Parade.
Meanwhile Leon is also struggling to step us and be a family man for his three daughters, while Sera and Paris' marriage is just one more secret away from breaking not just each other but a whole country a part. It seems like the only ones they can count on is each other.
