So Chapter 11 is odd because I wrote it twice. I spent a lot of time editing the wrong version of it and let me tell you it gave me an appreciation for what it must be like to re-write drafts. At the end I might post it for a compare/contrast.

Lile, I am just constantly enamored by you, your writing and your characters. You just create these amazing worlds that exist within our own world and you do it so fast ! The ending had me literally holding my breath. And, btw, I really do mean the enamored part of what I said, who else can mix MMA fighting with Thumbelina ?
ReplyDeleteP.S. I was totally going to use Dead in The Water in something, I’ve had it hanging around my playlist since Vice. It fits so perfectly here..... I was a little weirded out they played it during the kiss scene in the Divergent movie. Kinda morbid.
PPS. I love your for bringing back Sara Barielles. That summer song fit the mood perfectly.
Really ? That's not really a kissing song. Sara Barilles is amazing, I think I wanted to use Vegas in S&A because it references NYC.
DeleteWhat an ending ! You know, Lils, you’re like a popcorn writer….you take a small idea and blow it into something big. Me ? I’m more like a 60 minutes segment….I take one story/character and make it stretch for 8-12 books.

DeleteI had the Thumbelina thing in the back of my mind, escpecially with her being raised by a mother who was okay with her being 6 inches tall, but I didn’t but the two together. I think the Evil Queen thing threw me. Still, this was an amazing retelling !

ReplyDeleteI’m glad Cillian and April are back together, but if I were him I’d still be sooo afraid of her. Her name is even scary did you come up with the name Thanatopsis or is that a name that exists in Faerie lore ?
I stole one from SH on this. Thanatopsis is a poem by William Cullen Bryant. I had wanted to use the name in something and it just worked here.

Right, about that. I'll talk about this more but NAF is sticking to one story. I have such a hard time branching out with these characters. I can't see it ever happening.

No, he doesn't. He uses Gramps sarcastically though. They just met so it may take a while
Delete*waves goodbye to Cillian* *sad face* Of all the Lile men (Emile aside) Cillian is the one who really, really grew on me. Like I want to know everything about him. Despite his hard exterior he seems to have he comes off as so warm and sweet.

I feel like in a post or something I mentioned that Cillian is my favorite male character. April and Cillian are just my favorites, even though I don;t have any desire or ability to do more stories for them.

RIGHT RIGHT. Honestlu the ending was inspired and written to her songs because when I got this idea how this was going to end and that song just wrote the ending before I had some. . . plot.

ReplyDeleteBellum is going. Chapters 1-4 are done. I found a song to make a bridge chapter I needed and part two needs like 6 more chapters and Part three is probably going to be a fall thing.
DeleteThe thing is I don't have an outline, I just in general know what needs to happen and what has to happen to motivate the characters to to what they are going to do in later chapters. I should write it down but it doesn't work for me. This harder than I thought because even SA had a written outline every now and then.

I feel like if there was a way for other characters see into the nightmares that would be some interesting character developments. Like what is Mr. Coleman was afraid of losing his wife and Mrs. Coleman was afraid of keeping her husband.

When they are playing truth or dare in chapter 9. Originally I didn't have this dialogue in there at all, but I love my callbacks. Also I was afraid people might think she didn't remember Cillian.
