So I'm not T-DOLLing August. I really wrote August ( blog post ) becuase I had so many thoughts about the characters but didn't think it was enough for a sequel. For me it was like knowing how the entire series would be and the trying to condense that into the short stories.
P.S SH asks if Tumblr helps with music ! They used to have music
A part of me wishes I had kept to the short story route with this.
A Note On Scraps
I deleted my alternate ending to LL off the website, so I went in search for it. Instead I found two short stories that were supposed to be in August but got abandoned in turn for a sequel. As I looked over them I realized how they later become HOF and DSI, maybe even JNRR. These aren't edited for content, so let's just see what could have been
Lilac
Was supposed to be the last short story in August and end with an engagement. when I looked over it I realized that there is a line in it that made it's way to HOF. I have no memory of originally putting it there but I'm sure it's obvious what it is.
Roses
This one didn't have a title, I think after I wrote this I was like "Sequel is totally happening".
A Note On Wall Hitting
So I have hit a wall with American Fairytale. It's just missing some plot points but I am leaning more towards posting the first chapter and taking it there for there. I'll keep in the trenches and we will see what happens.

ReplyDeleteDo you think you have a hard time writing something new after SO much time with the LL family of books ? I mean it's a pretty significant body of work, especially with all these new pieces. I wonder how many pages you have written about them all together ?
ReplyDeleteUm, I have the word count. LL is 30K HOF is like 25K so I'm guesing maybe 100,000 words all together.

I really enjoyed this "flash fiction" because it shows Fierro struggling with the morality of what he is doing. I love his POV.
ReplyDeleteMr. F's POV is super clunky because this was the first time I ever wrote his POV. His POV in HOF draws a lot on this.

DeleteUgh, Clara's is not the best role mode is she, lol. Anywho I feel that that is a bit out of character for her at that point. That sounds more like SDI/JNRR Clara.

ReplyDeleteNo idea. I just thought it was interesting that this story deals with a few things that I bring up later in the series and I don't remember writing Roses or Lilac. I have no idea where they came from.

ReplyDeleteI bet he would have a really great story of his own. He's like a broody, teen boy raised by women and his sister her never really knew went missing and he goes searching for her. His first place to go is to a book signing for a local author named "Emile"....
DeleteWell, kind of. Clarence and the DeLune Inheritance was supposed to play a bigger part in HOF and Rose was supposed to show up in some form in HOF, but it didn't work. If I ever post the T-DOLL I talk about this.

Did you have to look up how to make Rose oil ? Is than an expensive product, does Fierro have like a stand at the Farmer's Market ?

DeleteYeah, see I thought about this and I needed Mr. F to be rich "Because of reasons" so I was like yeah, rose oil but I was never sold on it. THEN I realized I would just have him be really good at the stock market as explained in JNRR. So let's go with that last one.
